Residency with London’s Black Cab

Working with Mick (the black cab driver)

What an absolute pleasure it was to spend days sat in Mick’s black cab. I heard stories, I heard anecdotes and I created a poem that was part of huge project brought together by poet and facilitator Dan Simpson. During the project, six poets were paired with six separate cabbies and asked to write a poem from the experience.

It was a brilliant experience and I’m so proud of the poem that came out. Mick was one of the nicest guys I ever met and a wonderful inspiring storyteller. I shot the video below on my phone and hardly prepped it but I think the words still run true. Enjoy it!

me and a cabbie named Mick worked together to create this poem.
