The wonder of Hobo Johnson

I’m a fan of an artist called Hobo Johnson. There’s many different things I love about his style.

I love the way he uses volume, how he can go from a whisper to a throaty shout. How he moves from conversational to more rapping style and how he cuts across bars in such a lazy, natural way.

In this song he uses a peach scone as a vehicle to talk about his love.

Have a watch and see what you think.

As an exercise perhaps think of another food that you could use as a vehicle to talk about another feeling.

For example, if you wanted to say you were grieving for someone but all you did was talk about missing the old Woolworths stores.

Or

You might want to say you ‘hate’ someone. But instead just talk about how you hate going to supermarkets.

Using a tool like this can be really powerful. It helps create nuance and makes your journey unique right from the very start.

enjoy!
