A commission for UNICEF

A poem commissioned by The Spring in Havant.

I was excited to be contacted by Live Canon to write this poem responding to The Human Rights Act.

A few years prior to this commission I visited an event with Brighter Futures (a group of young migrants fighting for change). The event featured Richard Alston (a UN envoy) and it was designed to give voice to minorities suffering in deprivation and poverty. Richard Alston was supportive to our cause but in the end the Conservatives ignored his pleas and many of the young people were left disappointed and angry. This poem is dedicated to all of those people.
